I found this in an old draft on the Blog today. Doing a bit of house cleaning as it were. Must have gotten  distracted by a shiny object.

This is from Bob Parson’s. The CEO and founder of GoDaddy.com, the most successful domain registrar in the World.  And the one that I use most of the time.  He puts out some great free information on how to run a successful business.

Some good stuff for sure.  There are 16 gems here.  What do you think?

1. Get and stay out of your comfort zone.

I believe that not much happens of any significance when we’re in our comfort zone.  I hear people say, “But I’m concerned about security.”  My response to that is simple: “Security is for cadavers.”

2. Never give up.

Almost nothing works the first time it’s attempted.  Just because what you’re doing does not seem to be working, doesn’t mean it won’t work.  It just means that it might not work the way you’re doing it.  If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, and you wouldn’t have an opportunity.

Domino’s Pizza announced today that their profits more than doubles on new recipe, or does it really.

I got a glimpse of this phenomena the other day with one of my new clients.  No, unfortunately not the Forked-Tail Fly Catcher, but something with a tail, all right.

My client was so busy running round putting out fires, taking care of things that had to be done, chasing their tail and chasing after buzzing flies, they were too busy to stop and actually start making enough money so they could stop running around being busy.

Whenever I am observing a client, I always remind myself to look in the mirror. As I did so, low and behold, I had begun doing a bit of fly chasing myself.   Not nearly as bad as the client, but the buzzing has a nasty habit of distracting you from the important things you should be doing, which is of course…making money.

A lot of this can be stopped in its tracks by simply having a written plan.  OK, I can make something else up if that was too easy but, it is often the only thing you need.  Write out a plan of at most 3 or 4 things that have to get done concerning making a profit, and then one important goal for the week and the month.  Be specific.  Say, I am going to get 20 new clients and build up 8 new residual income streams from them.

Being specific makes a huge difference.  So, don’t let chasing flies cause a fender bender while you are driving down the road to massive profitability.  Let them buzz, you can pay someone else to get them when you have arrived.  You will have enough money to do it.  Massive Profits means never having to swat your own flies.  Unless of course you really want to….

If you have not read the 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss, you should.   Really every business owner should, as well as anyone who wants more time in their life.  It is that good.

The reason why I am posting this is I have had some interesting conversations recently about it.  The book actually helped launch my current business model that I used in my businesses several years ago. Which is saying quite a bit about a book.

Because of the book, I started www.YakWrite.com which is my Virtual Assistant and Transcription Service and in turn, through the Butterfly Effect,  got me to where I am today.  In a way, 21to21.com would probably not be here without the book either.  Kind of cool, now that I think about it.

Well, after the original 4 Hour Workweek book came out, I decided to write about my trials and tribulations of setting up my Muse and I wrote my own book.  A Muse is basically an automated business that virtually runs itself.

This brings me to the fact that I have been working on a rewrite of my book and am going to make it available next week.  It is all about the hard won and funny lessons  of actually implementing a 4 Hour Workweek.  It also contains the Blueprint of resources and shortcuts to creating a Muse.
