If the expected moratorium on offshore drilling is placed by the administration as rumored, nearly every expert agrees that we could see $5.00+ gas prices at the pump and diesel could shoot up to $7.00.

Why should this matter to you other than it is going to make going to the pump painful and the price of everything you purchase could go up 10-15%, and heating a home could double this coming Winter?

Well, because it will drive even more people to the Web for services and products. When even close trips cost $5 to get there and back, most people will be looking for even more things they can purchase without using their car and they will be looking to save money as the average consumer in America and Worldwide for that matter is going to get hit hard.

This is even without the proposed Cap and Tax bill on energy that Congress has said they are going to pass that will add a 25% tax to all energy costs including electricity.

So there has never been a better time to make sure that your Website is up and running and profitable. I know we are getting busier than we have ever been.

How Is Your Business Going To Handle $5.00 Per Gallon Gas and $7.00 Gallon Diesel Fuel?

Just make sure you do not wait too long. Gas prices are guaranteed to go up. Will they hit $5.00 per gallon? Depends if they do put a moratorium on drilling. But, I would say there is a 99% that you will see a 40% spike in prices even if they don’t. With over 84% of all oil reserves in the US placed off limits to drilling by the Government and even tighter restrictions on coal and other normal energy sources with no real alternatives in site, it is pretty much assured that prices will continue to rise unless someone in Washington grows some brain cells.

But I have more faith in the Easter Bunny showing up at my door along with Santa Clause with a bottle of good Scotch asking me to sit down for a drink to discuss the Evil of Progressives than the DC crowd to get things right.

Then again though, if you open your eyes to what is going to be happening shortly and you get your Website and marketing humming, you can do really well. That, and buying oil futures.

Those that don’t, will probably go out of business or at least be in for a really, really rough time of things. It is as simple as that.

Profitable Website/Blog Blueprint For 2010

Here is my quick blueprint for Websites/Blogs for 2010. The reason why I put this in here is because I have been reminded over the past few days that there are still a lot of people out there still don’t have a Website or a Blog or both. Even if they do, they do not have all of the components that you need. Reminded is actually more like been beaten over the head with this fact.

Having worked with Joomla, Drupal, Dolphin, straight HTML and PHP sites, I have to say that
WordPress as of right now is the only base for an online business that I can in good conscious recommend.

Nothing else has the flexibility of look, feel, and function that WordPress does along with ease of use and content management by people with ZERO experience or tech skills.

It is not perfect but, it is head and shoulders above the other options.

This is the bare minimum you are going to need for a successful online business in 2010.

As I have mentioned before, this is site is my testing ground for a number of things that you can do with WordPress and is undergoing quite a few things under the hood as it were. While for those of you that have noticed, I am slowly dialing in the look and feel as well. Although there are some that will say it looks like a barn, and I could hardly disagree, I am testing out different layouts and features and am pulling the best of those test together. It is a rather fun process and expect to see some quite noticeable changes here shortly.

I have been running an Alpha Version of LaunchBox Pro on top of WordPress here and I have not gotten the puppy out of first gear yet and I am doing about 80 mph. So, time to shift gears again with it and show you some other tricks. It is without a doubt the best peice of software I have used for building a Websitse/Blog and Landing and Sales Pages.

I will be showing you some of its trick shortly. Think of it as a Chameleon Theme on Steroids. It can morph into anything that you see that you like and has tons of other features as well. The good thing is that it will be released in Beta in just a little while and you will be able to get your hands on it. I highly, highly reccommend that you do. It is that darned good. You are going to be able to play with it for free for 30 days and then get a 75% discount from the normal price. While it was set up for Pro Web Designers and has more bells and whistles than a parade of bell ringing whistle blowing NFL referees, it so easy anyone that can check their email can use it to create mind blowing Blogs, Websites, Landing and Sales pages and a whole lot more.

There is a reason why you need to pay attention to that particular number for a discount as well. I have a great story on it for you that I may perhaps get up yet later today.

So anyway, back to there is going to be some changes here on the site.

In this day and age, change is the one thing you can count on with Online Businesses. I am talking real change, not the lip service that the politicians give you to get elected. Whereby when they lie about things and don’t actually do what they say, they might not get elected. When you don’t make changes or don’t make the right ones, with your Website or Business, you could be out of business. Big difference and I want to not only keep you in business but show you how to thrive!

My goal for the next quarter is show you how to gain 8 hours of your week back so that you have a whole day to do with as you will. What are you going to do with one full extra day a week? Imagine spending more time with your loved ones. That is what we are going to do.

Google Confirms (Again) That Breadcrumb Navigation Can Help Your Site Ranking

Google has once again confirmed that Breadcrumb Navigation can help your page ranking. What is funny is that I have been meaning to do a blog post on this for sometime now. They actually officially came out with this in a 2008 PDF document that they released.

You can get the document for free when you sign up for my newsletter over there in the right hand column… hint, hint. It is full of goodies directly from Google on how to get better page rankings.

I have used this in my previous sites but have only just got around to doing so on this site. If you see my previous posts, this site is a work in progress with most of the things going on behind the scenes as it were. Do as I say, not as you see here is my current motto.

So if you theme lets you do Breadcrumb Navigation, it can and will help your SEO (Search Engine Optimization). You can also use www.LaunchBoxPro.com which has it built in as a standard feature. That is what I am using for this site. It can do wonderful things for your SEO and I will show you some of them here soon.

Want To Get Great Search Rankings? Latent Semantic Indexing

I am updating this post. While I would love to show you some results of this, the only thing that I will say at the moment is that this had helped me get several from page listings simultaneously on Google, Bing, and Yahoo. But remember, you have to have great relevant content first and foremost. Content really is King, and Queen and every other piece on the board.

If you are a regular reader here, you know that I don’t often recommend too many products and when I do, they are only the best of the best. And if you are into getting your site ranked high in searches and if you are in business, this should be one of your priorities, then I have something to share with you.

Most of your have probably never heard of Dr. Andy Williams, but you here is why you should get to know him and Colin McDougall for that matter. More on Colin later.

He has what I consider the best tools out there to help you with search rankings. It is not a gimmick, or trick, or black hat junk, but some very advanced scientific analyzing software to find out what you need to do to help get your ranked for certain search terms using latent semantic indexing and giving Google, and Yahoo exactly what they want and need to rank you higher.

Latent Semantic Indexing

OK, great! Now what the heck is Latent Semantic Indexing?

Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is an indexing and retrieval method that uses a mathematical technique called Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) to identify patterns in the relationships between the terms and concepts contained in an unstructured collection of text. LSI is based on the principle that words that are used in the same contexts tend to have similar meanings. A key feature of LSI is its ability to extract the conceptual content of a body of text by establishing associations between those terms that occur in similar contexts.^[1]

OK, so what does it really mean?

Well, an example would be pizza and pepperoni for instance or m0ney and savings. Now those are some basic examples and they can involve quite a number of words, but I think you get the gist of it. They also have to be linked in a meaningful fashion.

The bottom line LSI means more money in your pocket if you know how to use it.

The great part about it is he has a Free 10 week course that you can sign up for by going Here. If you want to see your Site jump in rankings, spend a little time and go over the course. This is some of the best info available anywhere on what Google and Yahoo are looking for and what you can do about it. You do not need to be an expert to get this to work for you.

12 Website Rules To Make You More Money

OK, you can start laughing now if you like, but I want to talk about some site design basics. If you look at this site, I am currently breaking about 5 out of the 10 Website rules and I just want to let you know that I am aware of that and I am in the process of changing them this week. Actually this site will go from kind of what not to do, to what to do. I mean seriously, this is site is at least a 50% poster child for what not to do on a site and the other 50% is what to do on a site. And ultimately that is OK, because it happens with many people that are busy running their business. Perhaps this even happened with you.

The short reason why is that in spite of this site, I have been so busy I have not had time to come back and fix it. Just goes to show you that Rule number ONE trumps all of the other rules though.

Well, I am going to list the Rules here and then will go over each in a separate post. Some of these you may find a bit counterintuitive and as I said, I have not followed all of them on this sight but will do so over the next few weeks or so and show you the how and why while doing it.

Well let”s get started here.

The Top 12 Website Rules To Make More Money

Get your site up and make it public. Well, while this might seem like a no brainer but, even and ugly website that people can find is better than no website at all. Seriously with over 60% of businesses in the US not having any Web presence whatsoever, this is kind of funny but on the other hand not.

Make sure people know where they have landed and let them get a good idea as to what you do in 5 seconds or less. If people struggle to figure out what you do, then they will not hang around your site to ever purchase whatever it is that you are selling.
Keep it about them and not you. People come to your site to solve a problem or be entertained period. Help make it easy for them to let them know that you have the answers in either case. This actually may one of the most important things that most people and Websites over look and forget. I have some great stories from a conference I was attending in LA last year that will help illustrate my point about this. In the meantime think about it. If you are looking for a part for your dishwasher, do you really care about the a fancy name and logo on a website or the one that says, “we have the right part to fix your dishwasher today at a great price”?
Use Pictures, Graphics and Videos To Anchor Your Information. This is especially true not only throughout your site but in your Blogs. Nearly every post should have a graphics anchor.
Use Videos to convey your messages. A 1 minute video can get your message across more effectively than 20 minutes of reading.
Make your site easy to navigate and figure out what you want to accomplish with each post and page. Don’t be greedy, figure out the one thing you want your customer to do there. This might be signing up for your mailing list or newsletter. It might be leaving a comment or buying something from you.
Do not put in Pop-Ups and (excuse my French), other annoying crap on your Website. While this may payoff in the short-term, you will end up loosing customers in the long-term and you come off looking like a rank amateur or a sleazeball or both. If I see one on a site where I have to opt out to change pages. I figure out who their competition is and buy from them just on principal. Now this is OK to do during checkout for up-sells, but not when people are just coming to your site. Big time no no.
Be true to your core values be it your company or yourself. Do not try to be anything else. Let your character and your values come through on your site. It may turn some off , but you will more than make up for it by attracting a loyal clientele.
This one is a big one. Make sure that there is an easy way for people to contact you. Be it a contact page, phone, Skype, or Instant Messages. Whatever it is, make it easy!
Finally, keep your website simple and make sure you have a Blog. Your Blog can drive more traffic than you ever imagined and you need to make sure you update it at least once a week, if not more.
Make sure you give people a way to opt-in to your mailing list. This will be one of the keys to your success, by building your list of prospects.
People only do things from one of two reasons. To move Toward Something, Or To Move Away From Something. Make sure you appeal to both types of people. Interestingly there is a 50/50 mix of people out there yet 99% of most Websites only market toward the Move Toward People. More on this concept later. It is very, very powerful. If you don’t want your Website to fail as things get tighter, you need to know how to do this effectively. I will have a lot more informaiton on this in the near further.

Also, look for big changes here and a laser focus on what you will see on 21to21.com site soon. Plus, I am going to show you the easiest, fastest, most cost effective way to build a world class website even if you have Zero website building experience and the only technical skill you have is to be able to check your email. I got my hands on a Beta Test piece of software that I feel may very well change how Profitable Websites are built. Be they small or large scales sites. This thing really rocks.

And last but not least, if you are not using WordPress for your website, you are going to be lost in the dust. I have tried HTML, Drupal, Joomla, and a host of other ways to put your Website together and they all pale in comparison to what you can accomplish with WordPress. I will be post a lot more info on how to use WordPress to put more money in your pocket in 2010.

Coke Got It! YEAAAAA. Coke finally got it and changed their website design.

After half a dozen emails, and a bunch of blog posts,they finally got the message. They are also going to lose their Darwin Dodo Design Award that I gave to them last month as well. It is a good thing. I am glad that they finally changed their Website.

You Know You Are An Entrepreneur When…..

When you sign on to you blog after a couple of days of busting your butt and it is 12:01 AM. LOL Man, am I digging this stuff.

I pity the poor blokes and blokettes that have never experienced the up and downs of being and Entrepreneur. Which I might ad is pretty unique thing….

For those regular readers, you know that I have interview Marilyne Woodsmall who is the Author of of the book Personality Language.

Well, in another part of a new interview that I did with here, I managed to pull out a tidbit or 7 on Entrepreneurs and what makes them tick.

It turns out that we are pretty rare duck indeed. It also turns out that we also have some of the same Personality Language traits too that are not all that common.

As soon as I slow down enough to do some editing, I will share them with you. And I know that I have said this before, but I predict their new way of looking at people and clients will be the cornerstone of the most profitable businesses on the Web over the next 5 years or so.

It is that spot on and new…..

Needs And Overhaul Almost As Bad As The Drudge Report

OK, well 21to21.com is not quite as bad as the Drudge Report design, but it is getting rather stale. I should have the new Zippy look next week.

Don’t get me wrong, The Drudge report still rocks as far as content and if you really want to find out what is really going on in DC it is the bomb, but it is about as blahhh design wise as it gets.

It has taken a bit longer than I had anticipated as I have been busy on another project which I will tell you about shortly. And hyperbole aside, it is going to not so subtly change how profitable websites are put together.

So, out with the Old and in with the new. Do you have a favorite website design? Would love to hear about it if you do.

Is The Secret To Profitability To Be Intelligently Lazy About Alligators? Red Or Green Pill?

Could it be that the real secret to profitability is to be Intelligently Lazy? Could it really be the more Intelligently Lazy you, are the wealthier you become?

Well, like a lot of revelations, this one popped up rather unexpectedly right after I took a Green Pill this morning.

With this revelation came a whole breadth of understanding like revelations often do. Point in fact, one of those revelations is I can tell you are Intelligently Lazy too because you are here reading this.

Hopefully, if I communicate this to you correctly, you are going to want to become the laziest person you know.

You may not know it yet, but I am actually giving you quite a compliment. Let me explain to you why, by giving you two old adages you may have heard before.

Most people are too busy making a living to ever become wealthy
Most people are too busy doing urgent things, rather than important ones

This is because, as the old saying goes, it is hard to drain the swamp when you are up to your ass in alligators.

You are probably saying OK, what the heck is he talking about? Well, I bring this up for a couple of reasons that I will make clear in a minute. Here are some scenarios so that you can see what I mean.

Which Pill Are Your Taking Everyday?

I am going to call this option #1 or the Red Pill which is the Intelligently Hard Work Pill. You can use your intelligence, work hard, and spend a lifetime trying to figure out how to do things on your own.

I am going to call this option #2 or the Green Pill which is the Intelligently Lazy Pill. You can read a book or a blog and learn the basics from someone else who may have spent their whole life learning about a subject or perhaps spent millions of dollars learning what works best and then emulate what they do, or even hire them. These people most likely love what they do and are therefore very, very good at it.

So I ask you this, which pill would you rather take? The Red Pill or the Green Pill? Which one do you think is going to cure your malaise called lack of wealth or put more money in your pocket the quickest? Which do you think is going to work the best?

Now if you are here, you have the propensity to be Intelligently Lazy which is a great thing in that you are out trying to learn something from someone else on how to be profitable. Now what we have to do, and this goes against nearly all conventional wisdom, is get you to become even lazier by learning from others even more.

Once you recognize that the lazier you become in this particular area, the faster profits are going to start hitting your bottom line.

I am going to reveal something else that I know about you. You are involved in selling or marketing something. You have a website or work in a business that sells something to customers who then give you money.

OK, I have to admit that one was a no brainer. That is unless you work the Government, you have to be involved in producing something of value that is traded or sold.

Even if you are not directly involved sales or marketing, nothing happens with any business until there is a sale and you are involved somewhere in the process. With that in mind, and remembering how we decided that taking the Green Pill is the only smart way to go, how many books have you read on sales and marketing lately?

Hmm…do you think it might be a good idea to up your reading list a tad?

I am going to suggest that you read some of the following so that you are not inadvertently slipping yourself a Red Pill.

Are there others? Absolutely, and I will post more at a later time, but these should get you pointed in the right direction. So the question is just how Intelligently Lazy can you become and how fast can you become truly lazy? Your bank account could become larger right away.

Doing Things That Are Urgent Versus Doing Things That Are Important And Alligators

Here is where it can get out of focus sometimes.

You need to figure out which alligators are merely a pain in the butt and are not putting you in mortal danger. These non life-threatening alligators can take the form of having 20 things to do seemingly all of the time, having customers wanting something, an email that has to get out, or just trying to keep up with all the different things going on that absolutely demand your attention right now.

Could you put off sending that email to customers until tomorrow? If that’s the case, use the time today to read a chapter out of one of the books above and make your email even better.

The result could be you getting a better response rate and 5 more orders which in turn eliminates an alligator that was biting you. It can take the form of a vendor looking for payment or perhaps it is the alligator that says you really should upgrade your Website.

I am not suggesting you make a list per se, although I do find once you write down the alligators’ names, they are usually a lot less scary.

Then you simply take a step back and look at what you can do to be more Intelligently Lazy about things. Oftentimes, it will make several other alligators go away as well.

Now I mentioned that I got the revelation after taking my Green Pill this morning. I was reading some Drayton Bird who was a partner of David Ogilvy’s and is a pretty smart Bird if I must say so.

I have been pushing for Planned Ignorance as well with myself and my clients, which is a whole other subject and I will explain at a later date. Because of this, when Bird mentioned Intelligently Lazy, it fit in with what I have been observing over the years with successful people and in my own success. Let me have another one of those Green Pills please, Gulp!

The choice is really that easy and we make the choice every day, whether we realize it or not.
